Useful Gmail Keyboard ShortCuts

Email has been around for many years, and many would have been using Gmail for years. Would you be able to work on the Gmail without using the mouse or touch pad? (if you are still using Desktops or Laptop). Many would answer it with a big NO.

Gmail has lots to offer, but many aren't interested to even check what's in its belly, we just think its only for sending mails. But we forget that sending emails could be a lot easier if you are the kind of guy/gal who like to use the keyboard and hate to move yor hands away from it.

Gmail offers the Keyboard Shortcuts, only a few people know about it and out of them many haven't used it. That only few people comes to around 1% of the total users of Gmail which is about 4 million and out of which about 5% people use the short cut, do you realize how underused is Gmail shortcuts. Why people aren't using is people think its difficult and would be time consuming, yes it is if you are the one who doesn't use the Gmail often, but if you are a frequent user or a power user than you ought to know this short cuts.

How to Activate Gmail Keyboard Shortcuts
Go to Click on gear icon and sellect Settings > General > Keyboard Shortcuts  to turn on the feature on your Gmail.

Once you have activated the feature than using your Gmail becomes that more simpler.

Useful Gmail Keyboard Shortcuts

1. Compose    -  "Shift + C"

2. Save Draft - "Ctrl + S" (same as any MS office file)

3. Send           -  "Tab + Enter"

Once you are finished with composing your email, hit "Tab + Enter" to send mail

4. Undo Send - "Z"

This only works you have enabled Undo Send option in the "Labs" settings of gmail and its a very useful option.

Undo Send is the least known feature of gmail, and you can activate this by following this step

 Settings > Labs tab > "Undo Send" (and select enable) > Save Changes  

5. Scroll Up & Down - "K & J"

Use "K" to scroll up and "J" to scroll down

6. Select a Message/Conversation - "X"

A very useful keyboard shortcut, hit "X" to select conversation, whether you would like to delete, forward, reply, archive etc you could do it.

7. Move between Conversaitons - "N & P"

8. Expand a Conversation - "O or Enter"

9. Delete a conversation - "#" 

10. Reply & Forward - "R to Reply", "A to Reply to all" & "F to Forward"

11. Search - "/"

12. Mark as Read & Unread - "Shift + I" for Read and "Shift + U" for Unread

    Time is important to all nowadays, and as in today's Internet world, in every office an employee access Gmail for more than 2 hrs in a day which is too much. This time can be reduced with Gmail keyboard shortcut.
